Adobe Fresco

Adobe Fresco

Recently I got into using Adobe Fresco for my iPad. Like most people, I had been using Procreate for most of my digital art creation, but Adobe Fresco has become free so I decided to give it a try because I heard it had some pretty cool features. One of the things I’m excited about is it has pretty much the same symmetry features that I used to use the Infinite Painter app for… but the Infinite Painter app crashes on me a lot so I pretty much stopped using it and I’m glad there is now a more stable option. Another nice thing is that you can use photoshop brushes in Adobe Fresco and they have loads of free brushes that you can install from inside the app!

While they’ve got some really great regular brushes, live (wet watercolor and oil) and vector brushes, one of my favorite things about it is the way you can create animations. It’s pretty simple to learn, pretty great for animated gifs in particular. They can come together pretty quickly, especially with the added path effects you can do. While you can find tutorials in the app itself and on Youtube, my favorite ones are by Chris Piascik, so go check them out if you’re intested in Adobe Fresco features or animation tutorials. I feel that Adobe Fresco is highly worth the zero dollars it costs and while they do have a subscription, it’s one most can live without since it gets you Adobe Fonts and more storage… which are nice to have of course but if you’re on a budget… then…. *shrug* It’s not one of those apps that are free but sort of unusable if you don’t get the subscription, so that’s refreshing.

With the vector brush one can put together a really slick cartoon, but personally, I’ve been having fun using live brushes and textured brushes to create some grittier stuff. It makes for a choppier animation but I don’t really mind. Here’s a couple that I’ve created, hope you enjoy!

I finished putting up the rest of the fish artworks up for sale on Etsy! If you’re interested in buying more than one you can save 20% by using the code “SAVE20”. Also note, I put these guys up on Etsy since I seem to get a lot more traffic there, but if you prefer eBay, I can move them over there, just let me know.
