The Usual Rival
An 8″ x 10″ Chinese Watercolor and Ink Painting
This one is a depiction of a lighthouse battling the fog – it’s usual rival.
I’ve been trying out some Chinese painting supplies and techniques lately and this is one of the pieces I’ve made with my Oil Soot Ink (for the black outline and details), Chinese painting colors, and Ripe (sized) Xuan (rice paper). I use heat activated film adhesive to mount it to a rigid surface because it just seems to make it easier to paint and draw on. Then I complete it mostly the way I would a regular watercolor and ink piece.
Anywho, I’ll probably post about all that in more detail eventually on my Art Supplies Blog, which I created recently because… well, I just love to go on and on about art supplies and thought it might be interesting to people who may be wondering about the tools that I use (also there are affiliate links to help make the effort of making an art supplies post a bit more worth the time ;p).
I’ll be posting a few more new pieces soon. Oh, and I’m still workin’ at my online store which I’m planning to open in a couple months. It’ll have all my post cards and zines that are on other platforms (and they will be cheaper since I don’t have to pay middle man fees!), as well as some originals and new prints. Unfortunately it will serve the United States only because doing worldwide shipping has become too complicated with laws and rules for me these days.
I’m looking forward to getting back to selling art again! *party noise maker sound*
